Dear Parents,
Happy Wednesday! Friday was a great day and we had a nice
little harvest party in the afternoon.
It was very low-key and the firsties handled it all very well! There were quite a few action figures in
attend of our party…..ha! I hope that
everyone had a super fun weekend!
On Monday, we began our day with talking about confession
and what that means. Ask your firstie
about it! Engage in a conversation about
confession and why we do it and how we are forgiven because Jesus died on the
cross, for US!
In Math we have been studying different strategies for
adding; adding 0, 1, and 2 by counting on (either in our heads or on our number
lines), using doubles, and then today we learned doubles-near doubles. For example, since we know our doubles, (1+1=2,
2+2=4, 3+3=6, 4+4=8, 5+5=10, and 6+6=12), use a double 2+2=4, but just change
the second number 2+3=5. We will
continue to practice these strategies, and they are really meant to have the
students thinking in different ways.
Practice at home too!
Our Veteran’s Day Service is coming up! It is next
Wednesday, and from our projected numbers, there will over 50 veterans and
guests! WOW!!! We are excited to share our thanks to these
brave men and woman who served in different branches of the armed forces. Please practice the poem that is in the green
folder each night and then make sure it comes back to school so that we can
practice it here as well!
The family project, that I mentioned on Monday, is coming
home today in an orange folder. When you
are done with the project, please send it back in the folder, but don’t put
your firstie’s name on the paper. We are
going to have a little contest on the most “hidden” and most “creative”. I am
looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Have FUN!
Standing on the Promises of God,
Miss Gallagher
